This indicator measures the proportion of each household's available budget (estimated by an expenditure module) devoted to food.

Justification

Food expenditure is an indirect indicator of a household's economic vulnerability.

In general, the higher the food expenditure relative to other items / services consumed, the more economically vulnerable the household is.
